About

Is That French for…? was created to chronicle my training for my first NYC Marathon, which I finished on 11/1/09 in 3:46:26. I have run other marathons since (personal record is 3:16:14 in the 2010 Ridge to Bridge Marathon) and have now set my sights on triathlons with the ultimate goal of qualifying to the Ironman World Championship in Kona.

As sports medicine physician P.Z. Pearce said: “If God invented marathons to keep people from doing anything more stupid, the triathlon must have taken Him completely by surprise.”

The Blog name stems from the many mispronunciations of my French-Canadian last name, leading many people to ask me: “Is that French for…?”  Substitute whatever you want into the … blank.
